About

Dan Pennington is a faith-guided family office leader, nonprofit trustee, and long-time community member based in Newport Beach, California. He has spent his career focused on stewardship — of capital, of organizations, and most importantly of people.

Dan currently serves as Managing Director of a multi-generational family office spanning four generations, a role he has held for over twenty-five years. His work centers on governance, long-term planning, and preparing the next generation for responsible leadership. His approach emphasizes continuity, fiduciary responsibility, and values-based decision making.

In parallel, Dan has been deeply involved in nonprofit service. He is a Trustee of Olive Crest, a nationally respected organization supporting at-risk youth and families. His involvement includes advocacy, raising awareness, and supporting fundraising efforts. This work is personally meaningful to him, as adoption and family support are central parts of his own life story.

Previously, Dan spent over two decades in senior leadership at a highly successful, family-owned Toyota dealership, where he served as CFO and shareholder. Under the family’s stewardship, the dealership grew from a small operation into one of the largest single-lot dealerships in the US, earning the Governor’s Award, President’s Award, and Circle of Excellence before being acquired by a nationally recognized automotive group.

Earlier in his career, Dan held senior roles in the technology sector, including Regional Technical Manager at BusinessObjects (later acquired by SAP) and Information Warehouse Manager at Starbucks during the company’s explosive early growth years.

Dan is a graduate of Stanford University and was recruited as a collegiate water polo athlete following a championship high school career.

At the core of Dan’s life is family. He is a husband, father, and grandfather, and part of a large extended family that includes multiple generations and adopted children. He is a believer in the power of family — biological or chosen — as the foundation of a healthy society.

He is also active in his local church and broader community, where his focus remains on service, mentoring, and supporting organizations that strengthen families and young people.
